T.C. 798 |
DESCRIPTION
T.C. 798 Rinse Aid is a stain-preventing additive for rinse systems
after hydrochloric or sulfuric acid pickling operations. It is an acidic product that
possesses corrosion protection and wetting. It is designed to eliminate brown or reddish
stains often experienced on steel exiting a continuous pickler. It eliminates the formation
of iron hydroxide slimes that accumulate in rinse tanks as a result of acid bath carryover.
T.C. 798 functions by preventing the carryover products from depositing
on the immersed steel surface and by protecting the rinsed surface after exiting the rinse
section before drying occurs.
It provides good wetting on the metal surfaces and is low foaming to
minimize any problems with disposal or water treatment.
METHOD OF APPLICATION
T.C.798 should be added directly to the rinse tank water. No premixing
is necessary, as it mixes readily in rinse water. An initial charge to a tank could be
typically 1 to 2% by volume. Subsequent additions depend on the rate of dilution of the
rinse tanks. It should be metered into the system at a 1/4% to 1/8% concentration with incoming
rinse water. It should be added to the first rinse tank the steel encounters and also to the
second tank if there is one. For spray systems, meter into the incoming water at 1 to 1 1/2%
concentration.
